The Low Down On Becoming A Muse Featured
Many models have wondered what is required of them to become a muse, there is really nothing to it actually.
In this article, you can expect to find advice on poses, hygiene and safety.
Let us start off by looking at poses first:
If you would like to become a muse it is imperative that you practice holding still for a few minutes at a time, this is not a must with photographic modeling, but for an artist that paints or draws it is a necessity.
Artists always enjoy seeing muses try different and interesting poses, for this purpose many muses start yoga. The more creative your poses are, the bigger your chances are of getting hired more often.
For those who are unsure, muse castings are normally found at your local art college or institute. When applying for a casting, remember that a good model spends a lot of time coming up with good, creative poses and always takes pride in their creativity, bring your personality to castings and sessions.
When struggling or in doubt about poses, I would suggest taking a look through previous artists poses and ideas.
Posing times can be from as short as two minutes and as long as thirty minutes. Most drawing or painting sessions will start with one minute warm up poses, these poses are also used for the more difficult poses such as contortion.
Do be aware that sessions typically last for two to three hours, but there is no need to worry, artists that request you for entire sessions will allow time for breaks. During these breaks most muses stretch stiffening muscles and have something to eat or drink. Do be sure to have a robe with you for breaks, although you enjoy being nude, this is a form of respect to the artist.
Word of advice for full session muses, when posing try find a focal point and keep it, this will help you stay in your pose aswel as get you back into the correct pose after your breaks.
NEVER look at an artist directly, unless told otherwise. This can be very distracting to him or her.
When attending a nude artists session it is highly recommended that you bring along a solid colour sheet to cover up props that have been used by previous nude muses. You never know if the props are washed as regularly as they should be.
With that said, I hope I have answered your questions about becoming a muse and I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor.
Warnings:
- Although private castings and sessions are more likely to pay you more, it runs the risk of possible sexual assault, take as much care as possible when applying for private castings.
- When responding to ANY advertisement, please do research before accepting ANY job.
- Although most institutes forbid camera phones during sessions, they sometimes end up in the studio/class. Muses are to be vigilant at all times during sessions.
