Jay: Bay Local

Jay does streetwear the way it’s meant to be worn — like he forgot he was being photographed. Shot around a Bay Area downtown in early 2011: Ben Davis workwear, that little gorilla patch riding his chest and his beanie, brick walls and a 'Bay Local' banner snapping overhead. He leans, he walks, he squints into the low winter sun, and at one point his girl ducks into frame for a couple of easy, grinning portraits. No posing-school stiffness, no styling that tries too hard — just a guy, good light, and a city that fits him like the jacket. No airbrushing, no apologies, no boring.
